Welcome to the official Abbeydale Picture House Website.

The Abbeydale Picture House is a much loved, unique building that has become a landmark on the south side of Sheffield. Opened in 1920, this magnificent picture palace entertained generations of cinema and theatre audiences, with silent movies, cine-variety shows and wide-screen spectaculars. It is one of the few cinemas of its age still standing today.

The building was saved by the Friends of the Abbeydale Picture House in 2005 and we are working hard to restore it to its former glory. Our restoration project is creating a much needed community venue for performing arts, static art, visual media, theatre, dance , live music, and cinema.
