Picture House Youth Theatre

Picture House Youth Theatre is a drama club for 7 - 21 year olds. It was formed in 2003 as part of the Friends of the Abbeydale Picture House, a charitable organisation raising money to restore the Picture House to its former glory.

Because of increasing demand for places, in January 2008 the Picture House Youth Theatre was split into two groups - Juniors (for ages 7 to 12) and Seniors (for ages 12 - 21). By splitting the Youth Theatre we've been able to devote more time to coaching the children and provide more opportunities for those wishing to take on more demanding roles in our productions.

We alternate between working on current productions and training in all aspects of theatre and stage craft.

Our first production back in 2004 was Whistle Down the Wind - this was performed at the Crucible Theatre as part of the Sheffield Children's Festival. Since then all our productions have been in the unique surroundings of the Abbeydale Picture House. We have our own stage,rehearsal space, dressing rooms,wardrobe, lighting,sound and stage crew.
All our staff give their services free and
all profits from Picture House Youth Theatre membership fees and productions go towards the restoration of Abbeydale Picture House.

There are no entrance auditions, and you don't have to have had any experience, we just want our members to have some fun and make some new friends along the way.

Annual membership is £85.00 payable every October. This includes Friends of Abbeydale Picture House membership of £12.
